Introduction to E-Invoicing
  • What is E-Invoicing? Why it’s being made mandatory in Malaysia.
  • Benefits: Better tax compliance, efficiency, cost savings, and digital record-keeping.
  • How it works: Create, submit, validate, and manage e-invoices.
  • Overview of the implementation timeline by IRBM.

  • Types of E-Invoices:
    • Standard E-Invoice (B2B/B2G)
    • Consolidated E-Invoice (B2C)
    • Self-Billed E-Invoice (Buyer-generated)
  • Key compliance requirements:
    • Mandatory fields (TIN, Unique ID, QR Code)
    • Approved formats (JSON/XML)
    • What’s not accepted (PDF, Excel)
    • LHDN validation process

Learning Outcome​

✅ Able to explain what e-Invoicing is, why IRBM is implementing it, and the key dates to know.

✅ Able to understand how the e-Invoice is sent, validated, and received between supplier and buyer.

✅ Able to tell the difference between standard, consolidated, and self-billed e-Invoices, and when to use each.

✅ Able to check if the company needs to implement e-Invoicing based on revenue and business type, and know how to work with an accounting system provider to get started.

✅ Able to use the MyInvois Portal & Apps to submit, cancel, or make changes to e-Invoices.

✅ Able to handle special e-Invoice cases like staff claims, reimbursements, B2C transactions, and foreign suppliers.

✅ Able to avoid common mistakes and understand the penalties from IRBM for non-compliance.
